Minex pit optimization solution utilizes the geologic model created in the Minex Geology solution. It compares all the costs associated with waste removal and ore extraction and processing against the revenue derived from selling the ore. The Minex Pit Optimizer locates and generates a set of incremental pits that show the most economic mining sequence and can be immediately used in resource estimation or design.

The Minex Pit Optimiser module employs the Lerchs-Grossmann analysis technique to produce a series of incremental pits of increasing profitability that represent the most economic extraction sequence based on the given economics. Its effectiveness at finding this sequence is most readily seen in steeply dipping or structurally complex (including faulted) deposits where strip ratio alone cannot be used to determine the best path sequence
